Food Spotlight: Mickey Shaped Beignets Available at Disney World
I finally was able to try the buzz-worthy Mickey shaped beignets available at Disney World during my weekend trip to Orlando back at the end of April and beginning of May. I do not know why I waited so long to try them! They were delicious.
What are Beignets?
Before I go into the details of the mickey-shaped beignets, I want to go over what a beignet is.
Beignets are a type of fried dough. They are like a fritter and similar to a doughnut, just that they are airier and lighter. Traditionally, beignets are served with powdered sugar on top of them.
They are a staple in New Orleans, and Princess Tiana is known for her beignets in the movie- Princess and the Frog.

The Mickey shaped beignets at Disney World are available at the Scat Cat’s Club Cafe at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter. They are some available at the Scat Cat’s Club Lounge near the Scat Cat Club Cafe. The cafe is open throughout the day, while the lounge opens later. This blog post focuses on the Mickey shaped beignets at the Scat Cat’s Club Cafe.
An order of these Mickey-shaped treats can come with 3 or 6. My family ordered the count of 6, in which each person had their own beignets. I could tell ours just came out of the fryer due to them being a little hot. We let them cool down before devouring our faces into them.
Toping the beignets is a dusting of powdered sugar. It is a decent amount of powdered sugar. I definitely made a mess with the powdered sugar all over me and the table.
Each order comes with 1 dipping sauce. Sauces available include salted caramel, strawberry, and chicory chocolate ganache. It is like the same choices available to choose as your drizzle in the Croque Glacé at L’Artisan des Glaces in Epcot. You can add more dipping sauces if you want for an additional cost. Our dipping sauces came warm, which I thought was a nice touch! My favorites were the salted caramel and the strawberry.
The overall taste of these beignets was perfection. They were pillowy goodness! They had a slight vanilla taste. I was surprised that they were not too sweet, even with the amount of powdered sugar on them. It was a perfect balance! They were a hit with the whole family.
My brother-in-law, who had the ones at Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans, said the Mickey-shaped ones tasted just like the beignets at Cafe Du Monde.
Do you need to be a guest at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter to try the Mickey Shaped Beignets?
You do not have to stay at the resort or any other Disney Resort to try the beignets. My family took a boat ride from Disney Springs to get there since we were doing some shopping there. It was nice to enjoy riding on the boat and seeing some different views of Disney Springs.
If you want a taste of New Orleans on your Disney Trip, I recommend trying the Mickey shaped beignets at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter. They are a new must for my family and me on our Disney trips.
